Autopsy is performed on the dead – why they died. What caused America – called the “Greatest Christian Nation on Earth” – to die? Well, we can go back in the O.T. dispensation, in the days of the Prophet Ezekiel for a profile of ancient Israel, also called “God’s Chosen People.” Ezekiel made this astonishing statement:
“Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: she and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness…” (Ezekiel 16:49). He did not stop there, he continued with, “And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit” (v.50). Ezekiel goes on to mention “abominations,” (v.51, 2 times), “abominable” (v.52 and again he mentions “abominations” in v.58).
If we go back to the very beginning of chapter 16 we read: “… Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,” (v.1). Verse 22 says, “And in all your abominations and acts of harlotry you did not remember the days of your youth…” Verse 36 we find “abominable idols” mentioned; vs.43 mentions abominations as well as v.47 and 58 (as well as the ones already mentioned in v.50, 51, and 52).
What were these “abominations?” Before we get to that, look at how many times Ezekiel uses the words “harlot” and “harlotry.” He uses both words in v.15, harlot in v.16, harlot in v.17, harlotry in v.20, harlotry in v.25, 26; he uses harlot in v.28 (twice), harlotry in v.29, harlot in v.30 and 31; (he uses the word “adulterous” in v.32); harlotry in v.33, 34 (along with harlot in v.34); harlot in v.35; harlotry in v.36; harlot in v.41.
Besides the words “harlot” and “harlotry” we find words like “wickedness” (v.23), “lewd behavior” (v.27), “degenerate heart” (v.30), “adulterous wife” (v.32), “Your lovers” (v.33), “filthiness” and “nakedness” (v.36), “nakedness” (v.37), “lewdness” (v.43), “corrupt ways” (v.47), “Sodom” (v.48); “iniquity” (v.49), “haughty” (v.50), “sins” (v.51), “shame,” “sins,” “disgrace,” “shame,” (again v.52), “Sodom” (v.53), “shame” and “disgrace” (v.54), “Sodom” (v.55, twice), “pride” and “Sodom” (v.56), “wickedness” and “reproach” (v.57), “lewdness” (v.58), “shame” (v.63).
Are you paying attention yet?
God, working in and through His Prophet Ezekiel exposes Jerusalem’s Harlotry! She was more wicked than Sodom!
Now, put this in today’s setting, America, aka New Jerusalem is dead in trespasses and sins – not alive in Christ as it once was. Sure, we have some ALIVE/WOKE UP Christians here but our U.S. government is a “stinking rotting corpse!” The things that killed old Jerusalem e.g. harlotry/abominations/pride/degeneracy/filthiness/lewdness/shame/wickedness et al.
It is hard to deny that America, aka Amerika, is ALIVE in Christ under the present Biden/Harris regime (Marxist). Both have and support 120 plus % the KILLING of the unborn; both support open borders whereby illegals from sundry nations come in… bringing their false religions, their evil intents, their sickness/diseases, etc., etc. Both have an aversion to Biblical Christianity, loathing what the Bible teaches on ruler-ship/leadership. Both view our constitutional Republic as repugnant, and true USA patriots as terrorists.
The Jewish nations, before the Babylonian captivity, was the most profligate and corrupt of all the nations round about. Ezekiel 16 is the Lord’s manifesto against this abomination nation. There are many metaphors here, yet all is not metaphorical. The nation had been given to extreme idolatry, adulteries, fornication, prostitution, lewdness, pride, murder, and probably LGBTQ abominations. Check out vs.12, and 13 speaks in metaphorical language (to a degree).
Ezekiel after v.1 where the Lord told him to show Israel/Jerusalem its abominations, mentions “harlot” and “fornication” in v.15 to kick off his “show-and-tell” campaign. Some Bible versions uses “whoredoms” instead of “harlotry.” Some scholars believe v.17 refers to a male penis (“male images”) some believe the images were ceremonial objects of Osiris (Egyptian god of the lower world and judge of the dead), Bacchus (Gk. and Roman god of wine and revelry: identified with the Gk. Dionysus), and Adonis (Gk. Myth: a handsome young man loved by Aphrodite). (See Herodotus, lib.II, C.48, 49 which gives us an account of these male images). Phallic worship was common among the pagan nations; Israel picked it up as they fell away from God’s laws and statutes etc. Both male and female were involved; men idolized the male penis; the female used the image in her private part. We’re kidding ourselves today if we think these sexual practices are not being committed in church. Why should we doubt it, since there are whole denominations that have opened the doors to “invite” LGBTQ plus abominations in. Now both Protestant and Roman Catholic can have male homosexuals/female lesbians behind pulpits performing same-sex marriages.
Besides all the sex-sins, Ezekiel points out pride, fullness of bread (gluttony?), and abundance of idleness (v.49) in which Sodom (reference to Samaria, the Northern Kingdom of the Hebrews, who were not considered true Israelites by the southern kingdom). Ezekiel says in v.47 that Jerusalem walked in her ways (in ref. to pride, bread, idleness) plus done after her abominations – sins/crimes that brought the severe judgment of God. Have we forgotten what God did to Samaria, to Jerusalem? Isaiah 10:11 tells us, “As I have done to Samaria and her idols, shall I not also do to Jerusalem and her idols?”
God used the Assyrian army, “the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation,” v.5 of Isaiah 10: Samaria was taken by Shalmaneser (in the 6th year of the reign of king Hezekiah in Jerusalem, Judah.
What God did to Samaria/Sodom was a warning to Jerusalem. This account should be a warning to New Jerusalem, America: judgment is pending. All these things that have hit America are warning signs, the full extent of God’s indignant wrath is yet to be felt IF we do not change course.
While many liberal churchites find things like Ezekiel 16 offensive, the principles still apply nevertheless. Chapter 16 is one of those chapters which employ imagery so offensive to present-day taste that it is out of the question to read them in today’s liberal/woke/LGBTQ plus churches. Offensive SINS/ABOMINATIONS are committed daily by professing “Christians” what do we expect from the world’s people seeing all this? The N.T. Ekklesia is suppose to be salt and light. Is America’s religion better than the old Canaanite religion?
The predominate figure used to express the relationship between God and His people was that of the Ruler/servant (Isaiah 41:8,9; 42:1; 43:10; Jeremiah 20:10; 46:27,28; Ezekiel 28:25 et al).
The term “harlotries” (v.15, 21, 25, etc.) as in Hosea and often elsewhere, carries the connotation of association with sexual rites of the pagan cults, Jerusalem became as it were a “sacred prostitute.” Has not America become a “magnificent whore,” selling herself to everything and everybody? This land is full of whores, whore mongers, pimps, perverts, pedos, and psychos.
Ezekiel points out that children (born or yet-to-be-born) were sacrificed/devoured. If they were not aborted, they were later sacrificed upon the alters for “sexual freedoms.” How many pedo rings are operating here in JerUSAlem as I write???
Ezekiel writes: “That thou hast stain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire…,” (v.21) [note: for child sacrifice see Ezekiel 20:26, 31, 23:37-39]. See the sacrifice of Jephthah’s daughter (Judge 11:30-40), of the sons of Hiel (1 Kings 16:34), of the son of the king of Moab (2 Kings 3:27), and of the son of Manassah (2 Kings 21:6). See also 2 Kings 23:10; Jeremiah 7:31; 19:5,6; 32:55; Micah 6:7, and the legislation in Deuteronomy 12:31, 18:10; Leviticus 18:21, 20:2.
There is archaeological evidence of child sacrifice as an offering by fire – “to pass through the fire” (in Hebrew = “to make over or dedicate by fire,” as in 20:31). Is not abortion a kind of “sacrifice” to the “sexual freedom” idol? Ezekiel 20:30,31 speaks of “polluted” “whoredom,” and “abominations” – when Israel made their sons pass thru the fire. The words, “go astray” (as one translation has it, e.g. Hebrew text. “Go astray” (v.30) is the Hebrew from the same root as “wanton” and “turn want only” in 6:9. There are two phrases which refer to the licentious practices of the fertility cults, if we may judge from the associations of the Hebrew root.
God and Ezekiel (as a team) challenges Israel on practicing pagan rites. Their thought, “we will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone” (idols), (v.32). It was never God’s will then, nor now, for His people to do what the unclean did. He will never agree to the assimilation of Israel to the Gentile nations. Yet they did and America has. This nation is in a full-blown- relationship with the sins and curses that DAMN souls!!!
The church not exempt. The church has opened WIDE its doors to any and all that want to come in and muddy the Holy waters.
As with ancient Israel, the West has adopted the assimilation policy – believing the church would convert the unclean but the opposite is true: the unclean has not assimilated but the church has absorbed the world’s way of thinking and doing – calling it “christian.” As a nation we have opened our borders to any and all to come in, thus assimilation of their false gods/goddesses, we’ve become a “Godless/ “Christless” nation. We’ve adopted many unclean and perverse cultural traits, means, and ways. Now the nation is SPLIT/DIVIDED on many many issues. Life used to be honored, not despised. God used to be honored, now rebelled against. The Bible used to be America’s guide for good and clean living, now it is looked upon as a hateful, racist, porn book that can’t be believed or trusted in. We’ve become a sick nation. As I see it, America has died as a whole, only a small remnant hanging on. While there are many that make a claim to be “Christian,” so few are.
The million dollar question is: Do we really and honestly wish assimilatin to prevail? That is, do we want the non-Christians/non-citizens to assimilate into our Constitutional Republic? (We are not a democracy as many believe). Do we really want to be a “Christian” nation or a “secularized” nation? We are the latter by adoption, but not the former by relationship. If we’re to be or remain “Christian” we cannot continue to ignore our obligations as a people of God: no idolatry, no ungodly sexing, no idle minds.
Q. How can we strike the right balance between preservation of our Christian witness and participation in the common (sinful) life about us?
The Bible answers all these questions for us. Will we believe or will we deceive? The current Church loves “sweet deceit” – have your best life now and to Hell with tomorrow!
Ezekiel 16:36,37 has the LORD God stating: “Because of thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children… I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated: I will even gather them round about thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.”
Hey! Isn’t’ this what we see now? All our “lovers” and all those who “hate” us see just how sick and sleazy we really are. The glory of former years have been stripped off us and we are naked (exposed as a sick, diseased, and weak body). We are likened to Sodom and Gomorrah – proverbial for unmentionable sin and crime. Sodom is mentioned by Jesus in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Peter makes mention of it as does Jude and John (Revelations). And, here I am making mention of it as well. Sodom is one of the most repulsive cities in the Bible – Ezekiel compares both Samaria and Jerusalem as to Sodom. S/G is referred to as the most AWFUL instance of divine judgment, and in the N.T. the same two cities (especially Sodom) are spoken of as hitherto unrivaled in degradation. I dare say that America/Amerika is far worse today. Sodom had no Bibles; USA has millions. Sodom had only Lot and family, as righteous, the rest of the population was foul sinners: no church, no preacher, no prophet. Well, we all know the END of Israel/Judah. She was destroyed by Babylon. The ones not killed were transported to Babylon for 70 years!
Jeremiah, who wrote Lamentations, called Jerusalem the solitary city, that was (once) great among the nations. He wrote that Judah had gone into captivity. Will “JerUSAlem” have the same fate as old Jerusalem? We can avert disaster if we repent and return to the Living God, the Loving Savior.
