WE FIND sex-sins in Lev. 18-20 mentioned as “abominations.” We find occult practices forbidden in Deut. 18:9-12; they are also called abominations. All these, “abominations” are a kind of worship, hence, idolatry, which was not, and is not harmless. (See Lev. 17:7, “And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a-whoring. This shall be a statute forever unto them throughout their generations.”)
Demon worship (Lev. 17:7), demon gods (Deut. 32:16-21), demon idols (Ps. 106:37, 38)…demons!, God forbids it all. Isaiah 65:3 says, “A people who provoke Me to My face continually, sacrificing [to idols] in gardens and burning incense upon bricks [instead of at God’s prescribed altar].” Verse 4 goes on to say, “who sit among the graves [trying to talk with the dead], and lodge among the secret places [or caves where familiar spirits were thought to dwell], who eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable and loathsome things in their vessels.” All these things are forbidden in Deut. 18. Where did these Israelites learn such abominations? From the Canaanites! (Read these also in the Greek Septuagint.)
The New Testament also warns against the occult and sex-sins. Gal. 5:19-21 is a vice list which lists sex-sins, idolatry, and witchcraft.
God opposes ALL forms of idolatry, sex-sins, and occultism. This is WHY He ordered utter destruction to certain cities/groups of peoples.
“Sweet Jesus”
AH, YES, that mild-mannered Messiah from Galilee—the “Candy Store Jesus” that today’s Church worships. But was (is) He like this? Read the New Testament folks: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In Old Testament prophetic fashion, He regularly engages in denouncements, threats of judgments/punishments, etc. Go thru these books and pick out His pronouncements of ETERNAL HELL FIRE. He (almost) daily says something “negative,” “harsh,” and “unloving.”
Jesus also spoke quite profoundly about divine (violent) judgment upon Sodom, Sidon, and Tyre (see Matt. 11:21-24). In this, He was CONDEMNING Capernaum, Chorazin, and Bethsaida for their unbelief (see also Matt. 10:15).
Take note, my dear “Sweet Jesus” advocates: His warnings of judgment precede His own self-description as “humble” and “mild/meek” in heart (Matt 11:28-30).
Jesus also spoke of the violent overthrow of the world in the days of Noah (Matt. 24:37-39).
And lest we forget (on purpose!), what about Jesus’ violent act against the moneychangers and all the vileness in and around the temple (see Jn 2:15; Mk 11:15-17)? Wow!, Jesus, that is very un-Christlike!!
How did Jesus act towards the little children? (See my article “Preying Peds” [pedophiles] for more on this.) He mentions DROWNING those who offend the little children (see Matt 18:6).
I could go on and list Jesus’ sayings and acts that were, according to our “loving” critics, not justifiable. Sorry, you’ve got the “Babylonian Jesus,” not the real “Biblical Jesus” (see my 2 DVD set, “The Other Side of Jesus,” taught in the 1980s). “Jesus,” writes Copan & Flannagan, “saw Himself as standing in the line of Prophets whose theological perspective He shared, including belief in a HOLY GOD WHO BRINGS VIOLENT TEMPORAL JUDGMENTS ON NATIONS—including Israel by Rome in AD 70—and who consigns evildoers to ‘Gehenna’” (ibid., p.42).
On The Other Hand
JESUS SPOKE of non-violence. This proves what I’ve always said—that He had a character which had both love and hate, mercy and non-mercy [judgment], etc.–just like His Heavenly Father. Why can’t we believe this? Paul the apostle picked up on God’s (Father) judgments as he penned 1 Cor. 10:1-11. He wrote about God punishing the Israelites for, “lusting after evil things” (v. 6); “Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them…” (v. 7); “Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day 23,000″ (v. 3). Here the word “fornication” is used in its wider application to include all forbidden sex acts.
Paul goes on to WARN the new Christians–the Corinthians: “Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents” (v. 9); “Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer” (v. 10). He finishes by telling the Ekklesia at Corinth, “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples; and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come” (v.12). Do you “Candy Store Jesus” Churchites really believe you will get away with your sins and not be punished? THINK!
That Was Old Testament!
HOW MANY times have I heard this?! Our Liberal Churchites tell us that God was mean and hateful, but Jesus is kind and loving. I will point out to you Acts 5 where Ananias and Sapphira were STRUCK DEAD! by the Spirit (this is New Testament folks)!
And as for that “Sweet Jesus” fellow—that “delusional Jesus” made up by those who want their “Best Life Now!”—the “non-violent Jesus” who probably smoked pot—what are we going to do with the “Rev. 19:11 Jesus” (see vv. 13, 15 also)? This sounds like Isa. 63:2-6, doesn’t it?
Why Are You Afraid?
THERE ARE dark and violent days, weeks, months, and years ahead; but there are also good days ahead for those who love Christ Jesus.
Both Jesus and Peter spoke of VIOLENT end–time judgments (see Matt. 24:37-51; 2 Peter 3:1-13). These dates have been debated, but the world has testified thru the centuries as to VIOLENCE. Their fierce language is used to depict the utter severity (see Matt 24:51; Lk 12:46; Mk 12:9; Lk 20:16). Luke 19:27 was/is a foretaste of what was/is in store for unbelieving Israel: “But those Mine (Jesus’) enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and SLAY THEM BEFORE ME.” This is New Testament folks! (Although that prophecy or prediction of Israel’s destruction was given in the Old Testament dispensation (Jesus had not yet died and arose from the dead), the fulfilment took place in the New Testament dispensation). – Cont.
