Greek word #1: Here we find the Greek word buthizō (βυθίζω) for “drown”, meaning to plunge into the deep, to sink (buthos, bottom, the deep, the sea), it is akin to bathos, depth, & abussos, bottomless, & English, bath, also used in Lk. 5:7, literally “sinking”. In our text 1 Tim. 6:9 it is metaphorically, to “sink”.
Greek word #2: Katapinō (καταπίνω), literally, to drink down (pinō, to drink, prefixed by kata, down), which signifies to swallow up (A.V.), Heb. 11:29 = “were drowned”. The NIV has the same. Other versions have the same. This Gk. word is elsewhere translated by the verb “to swallow”, or “swallow up”, except in 1 Peter 5:8 where “devour” is used, katapinō. Devour has 3 Gk. words: 1 – esthiō, 2 – katesthiō, 3 – katapinō.
Katapinō (#3), from kata, down, intensive, pinō, to drink, in 1 Pet. 5:8, as already said, is trans. “devour”, of Satan’s activities against Christian believers, hence, warfare! The meaning “to swallow” is found in Mt. 23:24; 1 Cor. 15:54; 2 Cor. 2:7; 5:4; Heb. 11:29 (R.V.); in the A.V., “drowned”.
Swallow: katapinō, to drink down (kata, & pinō, = “to drink”), “to swallow”, is used with this meaning (a) physically, but figuratively in Mt. 23:24; Rev. 12:16; (b) metaphorically, in the Passive Voice, of death (by victory), in 1 cor. 15:54; of being overwhelmed by sorrow, in 2 Cor. 2:7; of the mortal body (by life), in 2 Cor. 5:4).
Greek word #3: (for drown), katapontizō (καταποντίζω), to throw into the sea (kata, down, pontos, the open sea), in the Passive Voice, to be sunk in, to be drowned, is trans. “were drowned”, in Mt. 18:6 (KJV/A.V.); in the R.V., “should be sunk”); elsewhere in Mt. 14:30, “beginning to sink” (KJV).
WOS – MORE THAN ANYTHING
I speak unto you this day and I say that you need Me more than anything or anybody else and when you live with that reality then you will see how very merciful I am. I do not want My people to be as those who are proud of their “independence, and their ability to “take care of everything on their own”. Rather I want those who are Mine to be reliant on Me, respecting the fact the heart beat of their lives is in Me.
My people are not meant to be living in estrangement from My arrangement and partaking of the world as though the same is what they are meant to do. I am the God who created people and the ones who make their agreements with Me are meant to keep those covenants and obey the dictates of the Holy Spirit. Then are they able to behold the endless benefits and blessings which come into their lives day by day. I do not with hold My goodness for it is My joy to pour out upon those who are looking to Me as the One they love more than anything or anybody. Therefore do not be bound in the multitude of miseries which the devil and his demons want to hurl upon you and by the same cause you deep and dreadful sorrows. Please be aware of how much I will do for you as you are ever faithful and enduring with courage each day because you know I am with you.
It is foolishness to let the taunts and false accusations of the wicked come at you and take you down into the mire of despair. In such you become hopeless and helpless as you are unable to march forward and are taken down the road which leads to isolated emptiness. Remember I am with you at all times and you are not to believe the lies of the liar and his demons whose only goal is to destroy you by character mutilation.
You are not meant to be succumbing to the enemy forces all about, rather you are meant to be uplifted and coming forth knowing I am who I say that I am and trusting each day in My mercies which are abundant for you. Do not let misery overtake you and push you under and cause you to be filled with sorrow and sadness. There are many things which I have prepared for those who are trusting in Me and it is My delight to see them come through again and again the trials and tribulations remaining True to Me. Stop and consider you are meant to continue steadfast until the end and not be made afraid by those wiles of the wicked which are in operation against the Just. Remember the devil and his demons are nothing but pretenders for My Son has already taken their powers from them and My people have dominion over such forces for they know JESUS REIGNS.
This day and every day be serving in the attitude of gratitude because you are not in the company of the damned, rather you are in the company of the Warriors for the Return to Righteousness Revolution. Be thankful to believe and receive of Me each day for I am taking you onward in My Way. Which is the Way wherein you are Alive, Alert, Actively Aggressive for the Truth and the Righteousness I desire for My people to live in. Do not let the enemies’ lies cause you to be ashamed of Me, rather stand valiant and see Me prevail over all the plots and plans of the wicked.
Have not I been the One who has delivered you many times in the past and caused you to ascend above all of the schemes against you. Believe Me when I say that I am with you this day and every day and I will deliver you again as you trust Me. Take the dominion authority over all of the wiles of the wicked and refuse to be moved by their tyrannical rages. Why should you “go down and drown”? Do not accept the filthy waters of the sea of iniquity as your end as the devil wants to flood you with such waves of doubt, fear, unbelief, desire to die, suicide and death.
You are meant to walk in the VICTORY because JESUS IS THE VICTORIOUS and will in such a place always remain. When you are following in His Steps, you will likewise be victorious and able to conquer all of the powers of darkness which want to overwhelm and overtake you. If you stop and give Me thanks and praise so you will find yourselves being uplifted and set free of the oppressive forces who are attempting to crush you with all of the tactics they can muster. However the Reality is, you are victorious and able to take dominion in the circumstances because JESUS LIVES IN YOU. Therefore feel free to exercise His Authority over every force of darkness and know those powers have no power over the Ones who are exercising their inherited powers in the battle.
Be aware I know the struggles you go through but even if you have within your being the desire to escape, to die, to commit suicide by whatever means you can find, those sins are forgiven as you confess them. Because you have JESUS making intercession for you and I will not leave you alone to die in desolation. More than Anything or anybody, I am always available to hear you and to answer you in your neediness as you humble yourselves unto Me and cry out to Me. Jesus has given the promise to you and as He and I are One, know He will never leave you nor forsake you and He remains with you as you continue to Believe. Trust and obey the commands of My Spirit and you will be Victors not victims.
