By: Gen. Jim – 10/11/24

I take my title from Psalms 94:19: “In the multitude of my anxieties within me, your comforts delight my soul.” (NKJV).
Here we have the writer expressing his state of mind and heart: he had a multitude, not a few, anxieties but he also declared that God’s comforts delighted his anxious soul. How many times in our Christian walk are we plagued with anxiety, i.e. being uneasy, apprehensive, worried, feeling powerless? How many of the world’s people are plagued with this “beast,” resorting to anxiolytic drug usage, alcohol, or whatever gives them RELIEF?
As I write this article Americans are at wits end, on the edge of going crazy, angry, fearful, just in a state of “I give up!” The political, the physical, the economic etc have given them reason enough to worry day and night. The government itself has become a nightmare, working against the citizens, not for them.
Millions of illegals (from all across the world) have entered the U.S. – a planned INVASION by the Biden/Harris regime. Who knows how many have come in for the wrong reason. This even worries some (not all!) in the law enforcement/border patrol/FBI et al. Who will be a terrorist, a rapist, a murderer, a thief – the list is long. Law and order has broken down (on purpose), civility has gone to the dogs; rage and hate have become the norm.
Psalms 94 is a prayer for deliverance from evil people, a lament (although this seems to be originally the prayer of an individual, v.16-23, the enemies are described in such general and indefinite terms, v.4-7, 20-21, that it was easily adapted to congregational use).
The writer starts out with, “Vengeance belongs to God.” Then as now there were EVIL persons that gave the people anxiety. There were then, like today, evil people in power, wicked persons with loud voices and evil intent, boastful voices with their threats and insolence, of which the psalmist cries out to God, complains out of worry and fear. There were tyrants (some quiet but deadly non-the-less) that threatened and punished just for the HELL-of-it!!!
Political and social evils, of which the weak/passive/fearful are the easiest victims: “They break in pieces thy people O Lord, and afflict thine heritage. They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless” (v.5,6). We could write “They MURDER the helpless unborn, they persecute/prosecute/imprison the innocent…” Some of those currently in power (Left and Right) are devils in human bodies, haters of all that is good and noble.
The psalmist uses an antithesis in v.19, anxieties and comforts. Paul of the N.T. writes: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer… let your requests be made known to God.” (Philemon 4:6,7).
The Bible has much to say about anxieties and comforts. Some say that there are over 60 Bible verses for anxiety. Just read your Bible. I’m sure you’ve read them. Matthew 6:25 tells us, “Do not worry (i.e. be anxious) about your life…” 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care (i.e. anxieties) upon Him, for He cares for you.”
Following Peter’s advice, we are told to “Be sober (i.e. self-controlled), be vigilant (i.e. watchful); because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (v.8). We have devils and demons freely walking in and among the peoples in America – the very nation that professes to be “Christian” but slowly-but-surely has become “Christless!” As far as the U.S. church goes, it has compromised with the devil years ago (with some exceptions). It has become a social, not an honorable institution: Wokeness has put the final nail in its coffin!
There is no need to make this a long drawn out Bible study; we already know that we are not to give in to anxious living; we’re meant to fight against the enemies, not against God. Duh! We can fight against Him by refusing His Biblical/Spirit Word commands: “BE STRONG in the Lord and in the POWER,” (Gk…= dominion/might (lit or fig). Note how Paul words Ephesians 6:10, “the POWER of His MIGHT.” He proceeds with the words STAND (v.11,13,14) and WITHSTAND (v.13). These are not mere “passive” words but “aggressive” ones.
Back to Psalms 94
The NKJV uses the word “anxieties” (v.19) while other versions use words like “cares of my heart,” “when my heart is in turmoil,” et al. The NIV says, “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” V.20 asks, “Can your corrupt throne be allied with you – a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?” If we get personal/local, can God and His (true) people allie with evil doers? Can we support those of the “Left”/ “Democratic Party et al that break His laws and hate His authority? No! No! No!
These people in power (in the U.S.) are wicked, liars, thieves, murderers, frauds, Christ haters deluxe! They want to bring in, setup a ONE PARTY, e.g. democratic party, forever.
Just because something is “lawful” (like abortion, LGBTQ plus rights etc.) does not make it JUST! Injustices has been “lawful” and we’re seeing the UGLY effects of it. God is the ultimate lawgiver and judge. We had better abide by His laws. These political/social perverts in power want a communistic state, not a godly nation.
Verse 20 reminds me of what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:20: “… I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.” In his second epistle he asks, “… what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbelievers? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols?…” (2 Corinthians 6:14-16).
Paul does not stop with his “do not have fellowship with” theme, he writes in Ephesians 5:11, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose (reprove) them.” How many Christians (so called) fellowship the evil doers. If one votes democratic these days, they are fellow-shipping EVIL!
Eventually the LORD will extinguish the wicked (94:20-23). Do you believe that the White House is the “Throne of Destruction?” Does it not condemn the righteous and praise/honor the unrighteous? Does it not condemn the innocent blood?
The justice of God – there were plenty of examples in the ancient world, as these are in modern life. Was it not Pascal (philosopher) who said that “truth” on one side of the Pyrenees was “error” on the other side? Was it not Amiel who defined “justice” as “the right to the maximum of individual independence compatible with the same liberty for others?” (Philosopher and critic, 1821-1881). In other words, it is respect for man, for the immature, the small, the feeble (see Mrs. Humphry Ward’s, Journal (1890), p.245).
We do not expect those of the DP/Left et al to be honest or fair. God forbid. They are anti-Christ! They (with exceptions) do not nor will not respect the godly. They are high-minded bigots, full of putification, Marxist indoctrination. They are (for the most part) obnoxious and obscene, putting off a strong (odoriferous) odor, overweening. All one has to do is watch/listen to the leftist media, the mouths for the DP/Left.
We currently live in a “Death Culture.” God knows it, the Christians know it, even the “deathies” know it, for they promote it.
Satanists, and saints clash day in and day out. Thank God for the few “Warriors for Righteousness” that are AWAKE to perceive the WOKE madness. America has been like the frog that has been put in a pot, the heat turned up degree-by-degree until the frog is cooked!
Again and again it has become necessary for the (true) people of God to call for REVOLUTION – REBEL against HELL! We are called to WAR – WAGE AGGRESSIVE RESISTANCE – against the Big 4 (Ephesians 6:12) … to declare God’s justice and denounce the agendas of the wicked. To wrong the poor, the defenseless, the righteous, is DIABOLICAL, and no excuse of full churches, or orthodox beliefs will satisfy God’s heart until ACTION-to-REVOLUTION is executed!
In this day and hour in America, can evil be avoided? It is like a plague in the air – we breath it… we slowly DIE!
“O Lord, thou God of vengeance, thou God of vengeance, shine forth!” (Psalms 94:1).
But be careful, Christian/patriot, be careful not to resort to violence for vengeance belongs to God. We use the “Sword of the Spirit,” not the “Sword of steel.” When RAGE and physical violence is all about, when “They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood… the Lord is my (our) defense…” (Psalms 94:21,22).
Let it be said that the psalmists and the prophets prepared the way for the N.T. saints. True, we are to be AGGRESSIVE but not physically violent (unless attacked violently so as to save you or your family, I believe there are times when defense is permissible).
How can Christ – working in and through His people – save a worn and torn world? Souls, damned souls, need salvation, not damnation. I’m not one to believe all will accept the free gift when offered; I know that many will refuse the offer.
While we may have our share of anxieties, the lost world has more. One preacher once said, “Blessed is the life that does not collect resentments and anxious thoughts.”
We, as God’s warriors for righteousness, are to show mercy (if possible). Matthew 5:7 says, “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” We can say, “cursed are the unmerciful: for they shall obtain no mercy.”
So, with all this illegal invasion going on, how do we respond to it? God never tells us to accept the troublemakers, the violent, the deceitful. We are not to compromise our stand in God for the sake of “fairness” or “niceness” – we are to bear witness (if possible) to them, not agree with the government’s unlawful stance to entice, induce, and indoctrinate them into the “Lunacy of the Left.” No! We know the truth behind this illegal invasion: numbers = votes for the democratic party. This in itself is very unconstitutional.
All this “open border” stuff has caused an ocean of anxiety as well as animosity. Great evil has been committed by those in power and by those who support those in power. As I write this (October 11, 2024), Americans are drowning in anxious fear. To make matters WORSE, physical calamities are taking their toll… great sufferings/hardships are nation wide. But, God’s spirit has told us, He is allowing all this so as to get America REPENTANT. Is God harsh and unloving? No! He is loving enough to give warning to this backslidden nation… repent and live: rebel and die! You may not like this but God will use whatever means necessary to save, not destroy. It would be unloving, even inhuman to condemn without warning; to denounce a growing acerbity – harshness of words – by those who can’t understand God’s love is ignorance. We speak for God. People have hated us for this. We’ve been denounced as “people haters.” No! We want people to get right with God… stay right with Him. A sick person may hate what the doctor tells them – to save their lives – but he does it any ways.
While we desire “sweet deceit,” God knows it will eventually kill us. The present regime is about as deceitful as any government can be or has been. They speak of global warming causing global chaos; what about global evil that is destroying the world? These liars and frauds preach relief will come if only… Relief will come only when men will repent.
One translation reads: “In the multitude of my griefs” (The Hebrew… = malady, anxiety, calamity). This Hebrew word is traced back to chalah, a prim root meaning to be rubbed or worn; hence (fig.) to be weak, sick afflicted, diseased, pain, and be wounded. Does not anxious thoughts wound our spirit, vex our soul, causing physical pain, even sickness/disease? Does not Isaiah 53 say that Jesus “is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows (lit. pain) and acquainted with grief” (lit. sickness). Do you suppose that the Son of God suffered in body, soul, and spirit, knowing His own people (Jews) were going to go under great persecution, scattering and death for their rejection of their Messiah? Psalms 53:3 says He was a man of sorrows and grief; verse 4 says, “He has borne our griefs (anxieties; sicknesses) and carried out sorrows.” Not only this but He was wounded for our transgressions (v.5, i.e. pierced through).
No matter how dark the times and no matter the anxious thoughts. Jesus has already bore the pain. Sure, we will suffer in this life but we can also draw comfort from what He has already did for us.
Paul meant it when he penned Philemon 4:6, “Be anxious for nothing.” If anyone had cause to be so, it was Paul. He faced hard times daily. His life ended at the hands of the Romans.
I have learned through my 54 years of Christian service – many years in missions work, in dangerous places and exhausting situations, anxiety cannot change the state or condition of anything from bad to good, but will infallibly injure your own souls and vex your spirits. In several missions adventures I’ve had to pray my wife out of life threatening situations, sicknesses nearly took her life. Talk about anxious thoughts, I had them flood in on me with great force. I had to pray my way out of those dark and painful flood waters.
Anxious thoughts vs. “the peace of God” (Philemon 4:7). “Peace” seems far, away at times. We’ve all experienced this struggle (I call it the “migraine struggle”). One can get lost in anxious thoughts, in the devil’s Labyrinth of confusion. We can even experience post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at times. There have been times in our “fight the good fight of faith” that we felt like God was our enemy, not those attacking us… when mobs of hateful and spiteful attacked our ministry (in downtown Sacramento, California in the 1980s). These attacks lasted from 1983-1989.
But they did not end there. We suffered 2 years in Oregon, finally in N.M. where we were harassed by the cops/media until they came to END our ministry (August 20, 2017). The rest can be read up on AggressiveChristianity.net (our jail/prison time… and finally our release by God’s mercy and love).
The “peace of God.” This is what we all want! That harmonizing of all passions and appetites which is produced by the Holy Spirit, and arises from a sense of PARDON and the FAVOR of God. Vs.7 says this “Peace” shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Our heart is the seat of our affections and passions; our mind is our understanding, judgment, and conscience).
Paul again spoke of “the peace of God” (v.7) by using the phrase “the God of peace” (v.9). God is the author of peace and the maintainer of peace. Let the peace of God drive away all anxiety.
