Under Fire
The leader of St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad, Iraq, Canon Andrew White, reports that over 1,200 of his 6,000 members have been killed over the last decade. St. George’s church, on Haifa Street, in Baghdad, has been damaged by bombs five times, in the last three years.
Extermination of Christians
St. George’s is the last Anglican Church left in Iraq. Andrew White reports that for the first time in 1,600 years, there is no Christian Church in Nineveh. The Christian village of Qaraqosh was targeted by ISIS (The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), who bombed and shot the people.
St. George’s church in Baghdad has been bombed 5 times in the last 3 years.
Targeted for their Faith
Canon White described the “humanitarian catastrophe” unfolding in Iraq, with thousands of Christians slaughtered, even women and children. Christians are being beheaded and crucified by ISIS Jihadists. In Baghdad “the number of kidnappings here have soared and people simply do not know what is going to happen next.”
Pray for the Christians in Iraq
“And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the Body of Christ, and members individually” (1 Corinthians 12:26-27).
