One of my favorite O.T. Scriptures is Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run & not be weary, they shall walk & not faint.” NKJV
Notice how many times the word “shall” is used – 4 times! The word “shall” can also be translated, “will” to express determination, compulsion, obligation, or necessity. David, in one of his psalms wrote, in ref. to the LORD blessing the soul, “Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.” – Ps. 103:5
The Spirit was speaking the other day about letting faith soar in ourselves; as do the eagles in the sky, soar above the storms. We, as God’s “Spirit People”, are not meant to be locked in a cage like a parakeet. NO! We’re meant to “fly high” in hope, trust & constant confidence in Him. How many Christians are locked into fear, anxious doubts, faithlessness, unbelief? How many are locked up in an organization/denomination whereby the Spirit of God is seldom, if ever, released? They are like birds in a cage… looking out but can’t fly freely. Sad! Some Organizations/Denominations are more free; they are allowed to walk, even run, but never allowed to FLY! Maybe if they were free to fly they would fly away from their Organizational /Denominational confinement, (as we did in 1977). God wants soaring spirits, not mere Church singing birds.
We need to starve our doubts to death & feed our faith. How many Church folks feed their “flesh”, yet starve their “spirit”?
Be Eagle Free!
The Holy Spirit is asking, “Why not be Champions & Warriors for the Return-to-Righteousness-Revolution, determined & fighting past all obstacles & oppositions to His Will & desire for this & future generations?”
This land is populated with “dead letter” Churches. Thank God there are a few “Spirit Churches” where the Holy Spirit is ALLOWED to move freely… where the Sword cuts & the Fire burns… cutting off excess fat… burning the Hell out of us! How many Churches are on “fire” for the Lord Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit as opposed to the Churches that BURN in LUST for the world… the very world God saved them from!?
Fighting for Generations
We don’t only live this Christian life for the here-and-now, but for tomorrow’s eagle saints. Did you know that there are churches like abortion clinics? What? Take the vicious campaign of WAR against the unborn – innocents MURDERED before life can be lived. There are some churches that kill the newly conceived children of God (fig.), hence preventing them from becoming “spirit children”. They want to keep them as “dead letter” children.
If the anti-abortion folks had not been on the frontlines of battle, millions more would be MURDERED. The frontline Warriors have fought for future generations. Should we not continue to WAGE-the-WAR against both the natural and the spiritual abortionists?
As new Christians in the Lord we went seeking a Church to be fed (we were saved in our cabin on a cold day (Dec.6, 1971) in Seeley Lake, MT. After our salvation experience, we felt the need to find a place where we could learn about the Christian life. Some Churches we visited were like the ones I’ve been writing about – “Spirit deniers”. Some would stop us at the door and ask us if we were Spirit-filled. We had been baptized in water – but – also filled/baptized in (or with) the Holy Spirit, with the gift of tongues. If we told them we were “Spirit Filled”, they refused us. Can you imagine a Christian Church refusing new believers in Christ Jesus? This happened several times until we finally found a Pentecostal Church that actually allowed the saints to “Fly as Eagles”.
You see, Satan does not want to see “Eagle Soldiers” for Christ: he wants “dead letter” Churchgoers who are like chickens in a coup, laying an egg for the denomination/organization… to feed the leadership. If they are not kept continually in a chicken coup or house, they are allowed in the yard… scratching out an existence… never looking up nor flying. Oh, no, they might fly away into freedom.
Feed Your Faith
One doesn’t feed his/her faith by eating continually off the world’s table. The feeding of our faith will bring others to the table of the Lord.
Notes on Eagles
An eagle in scripture can also mean a vulture, depending on the context. Some scholars believe Mt. 24:28 & Lk. 17:37 refers to vultures. The meaning seems to be that, as these birds of prey gather where the carcass is, so the judgments of God will descend upon the CORRUPT state of humanity.
The figure of the eagle is used in Ezek. 17 to represent the great powers of Egypt & Babylon, as being employed to punish corrupt & faithless Israel (see Job 39:26 where the hawk is mentioned; vs.27 where the eagle is mentioned, vss.28-30 also; Prov. 30:17 mentions ravens & eagles; The eagle is mentioned in Rev. 4:7; 8:13 (R.V.); 12:14). Did you know that there were 8 species in Palestine?
