“The Gospel needs upgrading”, some are saying. “The Old Gospel needs a new face for our times” others say. “We need a Changing Gospel for our changing times” still others tell us. I say, the same message which came as the result of Jesus the Christ coming into the world as a human remains the same to ALL generations. What saved man/women 2 plus thousand years ago still saves men/women today…repentance. (Mt. 3:2, 11; 4:17; Acts 2:38.) Acts 17:30 says, “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but NOW Commands ALL men everywhere to REPENT.” This COMMAND is for ALL men for ALL times. Critics argue – “forever”? Yes, every generation! Your intellectual arguments won’t work.
We can all agree that each passing generation this argument has been presented. Moral consciousness & spiritual awareness have been eroded away, year-after-year, century-after-century, giving way to philosophers with strange philosophies that can not, will not save a soul from eternal death. Old time Bible theologians/Bible scholars have died off leaving us with unsaved religious men/women who teach contrary to Scripture…money-lusting, fame-seeking persons who could care less about holiness, righteousness, or Biblical exegesis. No, they strive against the Holy Spirit, not submitting to the Holy Spirit – that leads and guides (See my articles on the H.S. at AggressiveChristianity.net).
Back to the Basics
More people are converted to a church or church organization than by the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Joining a church, they maintain is the same as being born-again (Jn. 3:3,5). They think getting their names added to a church roll is the same as getting saved…acceptable, plausible. Even if a soul was convicted by the Holy Spirit, repented, was born again, alter baptized & join some church, many have LOST their first love. Others have completely lost their salvation. (See my articles on the “if”/”them” clause & “I Will Relent If” at AggressiveChristians.com). Some have “fallen away” into apostasy-complete abandoning of what one has believed in. Do you know any one who is an apostate? I know many.
Therefore…
Do not discount the validity of the “Same O Message” & bite the bait of the devil & his demons. Talk about the “same o thing”, we need look no further then Jn. 10:10: “The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, & to kill, & to destroy”. This never changes! Opposite this, Jesus says in the same verse, “I have come that they (i.e. those entering the door of salvation, vs.9) may have Life…more abundantly”. The principles of Life & death continue!! Same O Lies; Same O Truths!
Because
Because the first humans took the bait (lie) of Satan/Serpent they LOST OUT with God. They were BANISHED from His Presence, hence, the very same consequence of believing LIES over TRUTH remains the SAME! Yep, it remains the SAME!
Satan/Savior
Neither have changed. No! Both are the SAME: Satan = evil; Savior = righteous…forever. Jesus said back in His earthly days, “I am the WAY, the TRUTH, & the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” – Jn. 14:6
Jesus does not merely point the WAY, HE IS THE WAY! Therefore, UNION with Christ is the ONE & ONLY WAY to the Father. Joining a church etc. is not the same as being born-again (Jn. 3:3,5); one must be born of “incorruptible seed” (as 1 Pet. 1:23 tells us), the seed of Christ/Holy Spirit that is imperishable.
Syncretistic Gnosticism
Back in the day, in the disciples/Jesus’ say, there was Syncretistic Gnosticism. This was well known, taught, & practiced. S.G. had its own speculations about the heavenward journey of the soul after death & the need of a “guide”, as do many philosophies today. No key to all was imparted in an esoteric knowledge – gnosis – to favored souls. In this Gospel, this Gospel (John) the noun “knowledge” is avoided. The watchword gnosis (Gk: “knowledge”), pistis (faith), & sophia (wisdom) are entirely absent from John, although the verbs “to know” & “to believe” are frequent. “Wisdom” is replaced by “truth”.
Christ does declare Himself to be the ultimate reality-TRUTH. He & His Father are ONE, meaning UNION = perfect relationship.
Satan would have the world believe he is the way to eternal life, not Christ. Teachers, ancient & contemporary, have claimed they are “the way”. Christ’s teaching of the Fatherhood of God is original. In a thin, attenuated sense the mere word is to be found more or less openly in other religions. “The Way, Truth, Life” (See also Jn. 11:25 & 17:3) are substantive & not merely attributive conceptions. The Gospel of John demands for more than intellectual or moral affinity for approach to the Father! The ABSOLUTENESS of Christianity is demanded! No confession, no repentance = no salvation. One MUST GO THROUGH the Son in order to get to the Father. If one’s sins are not forgiven, a dark & daunting judgment awaits the sinner. This, too, never changes!
The WAY
Yep! We have a long WAY to travel before we can reach journey’s end. Lots of hills & valleys, trials & tribulations, steep & straight. Christina Rossetti’s “up-hill” poem sums it up: “Does the road wind uphill all the way? Yes, to the very end. Will the day’s journey take the whole long day? From morn to night, my friend”.
Same – Yesterday, Today, Forever
Hebrews 13: 8 tells us this: “Jesus Christ is the SAME yesterday, today, & forever”. That’s not all. Heb. 1:8 says “…Your throne O God, is forever & ever…” The author of Hebrews continues with, “…You are the SAME, & Your years will not fail”, vs.12. So, why do we hear all these complaints about God/the Son being out modded, in need of upgrading? They (God/the Son) remain the SAME from generation to generation. The Greek word for “same” is “autos”, from “hautou”, = their own (selves), in some oblique case or reflex. Relation: His own/their own (selves). The Eng. Dict. Says: 1) being the very same; identical; unchanged. This last one – “unchanged” fits Heb. 13:8.
It has been said that a thoughtless liberalism objects to anything that is the SAME Y.T.F. All things are in process & all things are relative to their place in time. There are many who do not see the logical contradiction in such assumptions. If all is process, if nothing abides, we would never know that there is change. Change itself is not possible without some constancy.
Men CHANGE Not God
Where do we find in Scripture the Word UNCHANGEABLE? Oh, yeah, in Heb. 7:24: “But He, because He continues forever, has an UNCHANGEABLE Priesthood”. So, why do men expect Christianity to change….keeping up with the (evil) times? Unchangeable: Gk., aparabatos, meaning, “not passing away”, i.e. “untransferable (perpetual)”. The problem: man wants God to change with the times, to fit into their humanistic perception of who & what God is & should be. Well, the RECORD of both Christian & secular throughout shows that men’s beliefs about Jesus Christ & the Father CHANGE from age-to-age. Yet for the RECORD, They Do Not CHANGE! Jesus & the Holy Spirit are God’s Word/Spirit to man. Their principles of TRUTH, Their morals remain the same. They do not fluctuate. God’s mercy, love, forgiveness & His judgments, punishments, do not change or disappear because they hurt our wicked lifestyle. Both God’s love & hate are ever sure. Jesus’ sacrifice can never be improved upon. Therefore, men/women must abide satisfied in all this.
As the Worlds Turns
Yep! Sure does. Our human needs, under changing times, find in the changeless Christ their full answer – if they seek, they will find. After Heb. 13:8 – “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, & today, & forever”, verse 9 tells us, “Be not carried about with divers (diverse) & strange (queer) doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be established (i.e. strengthened) with grace;…” In short, the warning about “diverse” & “queer” teachings shows that someone or someones were changing God’s Word for men to live by. Hebrews told the Christians to hold onto what the True Ministers of God were teaching; reject all else that was contrary. What of these DIVERSE/QUEER teachings of our day? They are MUCH MORE distracting/destructive/damning to the Christian Church than were the doctrinal novelties of the early N.T. times. As then, so now – intellectual/woke BS, assumptions, whether axioms or hypothesis. Men’s minds have become a DUMPING ground for all kinds of thoughts. We’re taught by liberal Bible teachers that we must have an OPEN MIND…& that we must have a CLOSED MIND to thou old Biblical outdated doctrines & principles. We must allow our minds & hearts to be broadened so as to welcome “other” perspectives, doctrines, & conducts. We must not confine ourselves to those OLD dos and don’ts, make room for new thoughts, new life styles, new philosophies, noblest greatness – all guided by some new palestar. We’re not to confine our lives to Jesus Christ only. No! There are other teachers just as good, just as equal – even better than the One who died for our sins. We’re not to trust our Spirit – led minds only; there are other “spirits” that can also lead and guide us into all truth. So demons tell us.
Since…
Since Jesus is the ONE & ONLY who holds His priesthood permanently, His Life continues forever. Other great men & women who have been worshipped & thought to be THE ONE, have gone back to dust! Not Jesus. His earthly sufferings, His Gethsemane experience, His bloody Calvary made Him Lord & Savior. No change. He remains the SAME. So, the WAY to the Father is BY & THROUGH the Son. The consequences of believing Him or liars remains the same: Eternal Life if we repent, live the Christian Life; Eternal Death if we do not. While deceitful men/women offer “secrets”, ancient ones, that will get the seeker into the “special circle” of the Chosen, in reality they themselves are full of confusion, delusion, & demon driven insanity. They offer perverse & diverse demon foods. Goddesses demons offer sexual pleasure, as do gods. They offer “sweet deceits” treats to get you addicted. Their “secret sweet deceits” stimulate one’s lust for the forbidden. How many believers in Christ have been deceived by the partaking of such devil’s food? Do you recall when God’s people LOATHED the supernatural Manna in the wilderness & cried out for carnal meat? [See, Num. 11; Ps. 105:40; Num. 21:5] This SAME principle applies to us today: if we Loath His food, He will allow us to feed off the world’s table till we are sick, even die! But those of us who desire the Bread of Life, we can eat & eat & never get sick.
The same message that the early church taught – Salvation comes by & through Jesus – is the SAME message for us today. Heaven is real. Hell is real. We live in a HELLISH time. Sin & sinners abound. Jesus is still able to SAVE. Men, women, boys, & girls today suffer at the hands of the cruel, the depraved, the insane. People nowadays are worn & torn, battered & shattered. No language can do justice to what is happening world-wide. Girls & boys are losing their virginity at young ages; others are losing their moral stars, hence, they can’t distinguish between good and evil. Others have lost health & hope…living in a cold world of death. Black shadows of futility are falling across countless persons. It seems like we’re in a universal RUIN to which the whole creation is expressing itself via catastrophes. We are living in a LOVELESS world folks, where true love is LOST. LUST? Yep! Lots of it!
The “Good News” is, Jesus Saves! Yep! He saves from defeat & death, from sins, from HELL! Hell is the SAME: it welcomes any and all who are separated from God. Hell is irrevocable! There is “Hell on earth”, i.e. grievous burdens/sins men carry; there is the eternal unseen Hell awaiting the unsaved. TO KNOW JESUS is what this generation needs {see Gen.
